A float tie-out checklist before you invite auditors
Seven files finance teams should assemble before a financial audit of an e-wallet application begins sampling.
Inviting an independent desk to examine wallet float goes smoother when the evidence pack already answers basic questions. Use this list the week before kickoff.
- Liability extract — Customer balances by product and currency at period end, with a control total.
- Float bank statements — Every account designated as customer funds, including sub-accounts.
- Partner hold reports — Amounts held by processors or corridor banks that are not yet in your float account.
- In-transit schedule — Items you already know are timing differences, with expected clear dates.
- Suspense ageing — Anything parked while operations investigates, aged in 7/14/30 day buckets.
- Campaign log — Credits and reversals for the period, linked to approved rate sheets.
- Prior reconciling items — Last month’s unresolved list, so auditors do not rediscover closed issues.
If any of the seven is missing, say so in the scoping call. Auditors can plan around a gap; they cannot invent a statement that never arrived.
